Schaffer Diaphragm Seals
£POA
Unlike conventional hydraulic diaphragm seals that rely on an internal liquid fill to transmit pressure, Schaffer seals utilise a purely mechanical, dry design. This makes them an exceptional choice for critical process lines where even a trace amount of leaked fill fluid could ruin a product batch, or where extreme, fluctuating system temperatures would cause hydraulic fluids to expand and throw off gauge accuracy.
The Dry-Mechanical Advantage
The Schaffer design operates on a highly reliable mechanical principle:
- Direct-Drive Linkage: A fixed metal rod is attached directly to the centre of the diaphragm. As the process pressure causes the diaphragm to deflect, the rod rises and falls, directly driving the gauge pointer via a precise geared linkage.
- Zero Leakage Risk: Because the internal chamber is completely dry, there is no liquid fill fluid that could potentially leak into your process medium.
- Thermal Stability: The absence of fill fluid means the instrument exhibits far greater stability and consistency when subjected to wide or rapid temperature changes, preventing thermal drift.
Versatile Configurations & Aggressive Media Protection
We manufacture these robust mechanical units to adapt seamlessly to your existing pipework and chemical requirements:
- Flexible Process Interfaces: Available with either robust threaded or heavy-duty flanged connections to match your plant’s architecture.
- PTFE Protections: For highly corrosive chemical lines, the diaphragm and all wetted parts can be supplied with a specialised PTFE lining or coating to ensure total medium resistance and long-term durability.
Are you managing a high-purity process line, a vacuum system, or a high-temperature chemical loop? We offer highly competitive pricing and rapid production turnarounds on our entire Schaffer range. Contact our UK technical sales engineers today to specify your thread or flange details.
